Boydton is located in the heart of Mecklenburg County, Virginia and serves as its seat of government. Our town is two miles from Buggs Island Lake (John H. Kerr Reservoir), home to world-famous bass fishermen tournaments and with plenty of opportunities for camping, swimming, skiing, hiking, and boating.
Our town features a rich history, including hosting the county’s courthouse, a unique hexastyle Greek Revival structure modeled after the Virginia State Capitol, and the historic Boyd Tavern (c. 1790), a former stagecoach stopover for the Boydton-Petersburg Plank Road.
Each year, the town hosts festivals and events such as Boydton Day (last Saturday of October) and Bluegrass in Boydton during the summer.
